Develop A Love for God’s Presence

Extracted from the book written by Rev. Olusola Areogun titled ” PRAYER BREAKTHROUGHS.”

Psalm 65:4b

That he (the man chosen) may dwell in His courts:

This is one aspect of prayer many do not know. Yet, it talks of the most intimate of all fellowship.

Psalm 27:4-5 talks of your becoming a LOVER OF GOD, first beholding His indescribable beauty, and this is absolutely true.

GOD LONGS FOR YOUR CLOSE FELLOWSHIP: Your stay in His courts is actually one of the high points of God’s Day; it is true!

Men who have done the most for God, who has brought the best evidence of heaven to the earth, who have been most like God have all been men who spent the most time enjoying His presence. I am not talking about asking for things. I am speaking of you just worshipping, adoring and basking in His light. Psalm 91:1, Psalm 84:10-11, Psalm 37:4 speak of an area of worship and fellowship that God desires and very few have entered. A study of Jesus’ life and speeches reveals that He was actually longing to be united back with the Father in that sacred, unfathomable fellowship they have ever had. And in the beauty and majesty of His work, desire is that you and I share in it.

John 17:20-24 (WNT)

“I make this petition, not for them only, but for all who-ever come to believe in me through their message, for them all to be one, just as you Father, are in union with me and I in union with you, for them to be in union with us, so that the world may be convinced that you have sent me. I have given them the glory which you gave me, so that they may be one, just as we are, I in union with them and you in union with me, so that they may be perfectly united, and the world may be sure that you sent me and YOU HAVE LOVED THEM JUST AS YOU HAVE LOVED ME. FATHER, I WANT TO HAVE THOSE WHOM YOU HAVE GIVEN ME, RIGHT WHERE I AM, IN ORDER THAT THEY MAY SEE THE GLORY WHICH YOU HAVE GIVEN ME, BECAUSE YOU LOVED ME BEFORE THE CREATION OF THE WORLD.”

This is stupendous, isn’t it? When you start to hang around God, you start looking like Him.

Do you know that a husband-wife team that has gone through so much together sometimes look alike physically – this can happen when you become such a lover of God? Most of the time, you forget that you are married to Jesus in the spirit, and your spirit needs the fellowship – God NEEDS it too. That is how to get strength.

The most fruitful service flows out of the richest fellowship with God.

Psalm 91:1 says when you dwell in the secret place of the most-high you are constantly under the unlimited anointing. The presence of God literally follows you around. Eccl. 8:3 is strange to many children of God. “Be not hasty to leave His presence”. Do not rush in and out of His presence. Learn to wait and behold His beauty, and all the things in His presence cling to you!

As you behold His image, you are changed into the same image – 2 Cor.3:18.

In Psalm 84:10(a), David says, “For a day in your courts is better than a thousand.”

A day spent in His presence is better and gets more results than 1000 days spent trying to figure out things by your ability.

A thousand days is nearly three years; that is to say, you will achieve more things in a whole day spent in God’s presence than three years of planning and scheming and dependence on men! That is serious food for thought.

You can come to such a place that your fellowship with God is more than anything earth can offer.

There is no better way for freedom from the pull of the world. That is to say, the best way for the world to lose its pull on you is to become so lost in God that you do not have a desire for anything else. The Bible says, “to a hungry man, every bitter thing is sweet, but to a filled man even honey is tasteless”- you can become so filled with heaven that the best the world has to offer you is like gravel.
