The devil is relentlessly determined to disrupt your quiet time with the Lord, especially as a woman. Married women often find themselves overwhelmed with responsibilities—caring for their husbands and families, enduring pregnancy, and dealing with morning sickness.
Remember, Christ has redeemed you from the curse of the law; you do not have to accept morning sickness. As Galatians 3:13 (KJV) says, “Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us.” Prioritize your faith over fashion. Fill your spirit with faith to counteract any complications the devil may attempt to introduce to rob you of your quiet time.
For many women, the first pregnancy interrupts their quiet time, and this is often exacerbated when they become pregnant again soon after the first child is born. Ask many married women when they last had a meaningful quiet time, and they might say it’s been six years or more.
Excuses like “I’m so busy; I wake up, my baby is crying, and I need to attend to the baby” are common. Many women follow the old wives’ fable that says to sleep when the baby sleeps, but this is a deceptive counsel. When your baby sleeps, seize that moment for your time alone with God. Use it to pray, worship, read your Bible, and fortify your spirit.
Even while breastfeeding, you can listen to message tapes to nourish your spirit. Don’t let the demands of caring for your baby weaken your spiritual life to the point where speaking in tongues loses its appeal. As 1 Thessalonians 5:17 (KJV) encourages, “Pray without ceasing.” Whether you are busy with your baby or your career, identify opportunities to be alone with God and establish a consistent pattern. Adhere to that schedule and maintain your divine appointment with your Heavenly Father.
Never complain about being too busy to spend time with the Lord. Recognize that the devil is setting a trap for you when you prioritize everything else over your quiet time. Be vigilant against the devil’s tactic of keeping you occupied with everything but your fellowship with God. As Ephesians 6:11 (KJV) advises, “Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.”
