 Dearly Beloved,

 Psalms 42:1–2

1 As the deer pants for the water brooks So pants my soul for You, O God.

2 My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When shall I come and appear before God?

 Matthew 5:6

6 Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, For they shall be filled.

Hungry people get filled! And what you’re hungry for will come in your direction.

What do you want? Is it God’s glory or the goods of this life?

If anything apart from God’s presence, glory and love will satisfy you, that’s all you’ll have.

David would rather be a doorkeeper in God’s house than be elsewhere in the world. That was why God was so committed to him.

David was hungry for God and His presence, and he had an abundance of His glory, enjoyed divine guidance and mercy.

Many people seek after God just for His power to solve their immediate problems, and once that is done, they zoom off to do things they love and enjoy. But, unfortunately, such a life is filled with regular shots of the enemy’s arrows because the devil knows they’ll soon stray from God’s divine presence.

Your hunger is seen in what you look for, what you go after passionately, what you are ready to spend your money, time, energy and love on. Is it the Lord, or is it His presence?

Why would you read your Bible? For financial breakthroughs or to know the Lord intimately, please Him and be filled with His ways?

Why would you come to church? Is it to receive prayer for that problem or be in God’s presence once again, be taught His ways, and learn more of His spirit?

Ponder on these questions and answer them for yourself.

May the right hunger consume you in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Till next time, go and win with Jesus.

God’s Servant
