How are you developing intimacy with God during the COVID-19 pandemic? I want to share with you this morning on two types of believers: the Martha type and the Mary type.
Let us look at their story in the book of Luke 10:38-41
38. Now it came to pass, as they went, that he entered into a certain village: and a certain woman named Martha received him into her house.
39. And she had a sister called Mary, which also sat at Jesus’ feet, and heard his word.
40. But Martha was cumbered about much serving, and came to him, and said, Lord, dost thou not care that my sister hath left me to serve alone? bid her therefore that she help me.
41. And Jesus answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things: But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her.
I believe that one of the things coming through this situation the world is facing is knowing the real meaningful things in life. If you have a car, you cannot drive around now. If you have a jet, you cannot fly around because the airways are shut down. If you have new clothes, no matter how expensive, there is nowhere to wear them to. This helps you to evaluate the truly needful things in life.
Which kind of a believer are you? The Martha type is the one that is concerned with serving, working and doing things. The Mary type is a lover of Jesus, a waiter upon the Lord, a listener and hearer of God.
One of the things that God is expecting of us this season is to cross from the Martha type of believer to the Mary type of believer. Jesus did not get angry at Martha but He told her she was careful about many things. Mary, however, found the real key thing which is hearing the Word of God. You know, a problem will remain a problem until you know what God is saying on that matter and you can only get that in a place of intimacy with Him. It is not easy to hear God when you are distracted and too busy.
This season has taken most of those things that distract us away but are you focusing on the one thing that is needful?
My prayer for you this season is that you will develop a heavier dose of the Mary anointing, you will be a waiter upon God, a lover of God and a listener to Him to know His mind.
Let this season be a time where you are sitting at the feet of the Master to know Him personally. Study and learn at His feet and on the other side of COVID-19, you will be operating at new levels of God’s revelation.
You are blessed.
