James 3:2 “For in many things we offend all. If any man offend not in word, the same is a perfect man, and able also to bridle the whole body.”
Some people stumble in words and kill themselves in life. You must make up your mind you are not going to stumble in words again.
From verse 3 of James chapter 3, God said, “Behold”, and whenever you see behold in the scripture, God is about painting some pictures for us, and I’m going to be showing you those pictures.
Picture 1: Behold, we put bits in the horses’ mouths, that they may obey us; and we turn about their whole body.
Picture 2: Behold also the ships, which though they are so great, and are driven of fierce winds yet are they turned about with a very small helm, whithersoever the governor listeth.
Anything mobile has two mechanisms by which they function- a control mechanism and a triggering mechanism.
Look at Mark 11:23 “For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.”
This scripture is the triggering mechanism for divine power, and your mouth is the control mechanism.
Picture 3: “Even so the tongue is a little member, and boasteth great things. Behold, how great a matter a little fire kindleth!”
Kindling is a word used to describe little pieces of wood to keep the fire going. What fire have you started in your own life? Every light has kindling. Why don’t you set up the right fire? You can set up the fire to burn sickness in your body and consume completely every work of the devil in your life.
A bit in the mouth of a horse controls the whole horse. A small rudder on a huge ship in the hands of a skilled captain sets a course in the face of the strongest winds. A word out of your mouth may seem of no account, but it can accomplish nearly anything (great and mighty things), and it can destroy anything as well! It all depends on how you use it.
It only takes a spark, remember, to start a forest fire. A careless or wrongly placed word out of your mouth can do the same.
As Christians, we must master the vocabulary of life and not destruction. Your tongue is a fire, and it can burn things up. Make sure it is only burning the wrong things out of your life, not the right things.
May your mouth be under the advice of your born-again spirit and not your flesh in Jesus’ name. Amen!
RETRAIN YOUR MOUTH.
Let your spirit be the leader of your mouth and not your flesh or emotions.
If the mouth can defile, it can also cleanse. But, don’t forget, your words do not leave you the same!
Till next time, go and win with Jesus.
