Dearly Beloved,

Psalm 34 verse 18 says, “The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit”.

The quality of your heart is what determines God’s estimation of you. The quality of your heart is what either attracts you to God or repels Him from you.

Isaiah 66 verse 2 says, “For all those things hath mine hand made, and all those things have been, saith the Lord: but to this man will I look, even to him that is poor and of a contrite spirit, and trembleth at my word”.

God said that He will look to a man who is poor and of a contrite spirit and who trembles at His word. The Lord cannot ignore or look away from a man with a contrite heart.

Being of a contrite heart does not mean you are perfect, but it means you have an attitude of always wanting to be right with God and with your conscience.

The quality of your heart has a significant role to play in the involvement of God with you.

God will not trust a man beyond the state of his heart. One of the qualities in the life of David that attracted God was his contrite heart. He was always looking to do things right and please God. Every time God corrected him, he made immediate adjustments and enjoyed unusual favour and mercy from the Lord.

The state of your heart before God determines what you get and how far you will go with Him.

Many believers even try to hide their hearts from God; never find yourself in that state. Open up your heart to God and let Him in.

God actually sees your heart ahead of your acts. What makes the acts to be acceptable is the heart.

If your heart is right with God, He will accept the acts. But no matter how seemingly great the act may look, if it is from the wrong heart, He will not accept it.

God will never trust your hands with what your heart cannot handle. Your heart is the greatest source of protection in the place of great workings in the things of God.

When you are in such a place, you need to protect your heart from anything that might distract you from God’s purpose, corrupt your character, or hinder your relationship with Him. Some of the things that might destroy your heart are success, selfishness, sin, and Satan.

You need to guard your heart from these things by loving God with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength and loving your neighbour as yourself. These are the two greatest commandments that Jesus taught us. By obeying these commandments, you will keep your heart pure and aligned with God’s will.

Bring your heart to the place where you can secure the trust of God, and it shall be well with you in Jesus’ name.

Till next week, go and win with Jesus.
